Rooted and installed DroidMod 1.0 awhile ago. Also, downloaded SetCPU to overclock to 800MHz. I've had a few issues and was wondering if anyone here might have the answers.

I used the DM Updater, and the install went smoothly without any problems. I installed SetCPU, allowed it root access, and set the max to 800 MHz and min to 250MHz, checked "set on boot", set profiles for charging, sleep standby, and failsafe, and rebooted.

Everything seems to work OK, but I keep getting random forcecloses (usually from the clock, Weatherbug or the News and weather widgets), and the phone seems very laggy and slow sometimes (especially flipping between screens and scrolling). Any ideas on why or what I may have done wrong?

HTC Droid Incredible Stock (For Now)

I run the DroidMod ROM on my wife's phone, and 1.0 was a little funky, so I went back to 2.0.5. Not all phones respond the same way to new ROMs. There are many others out there that you can try. Currently, on my Droid, I'm running Bugless Beast 2.1 v0.6, with Chevy's 1.1Ghz kernal, and it runs real nice.

Thanks spotmark. Installing the 2.0.5 ROM un-roots the phone correct? Is that really returning the phone back to normal as if nothing ever happened, or would a VZW tech be able to see that you had rooted your phone and then reinstalled the 2.0.5 ROM?

VPNavy: I was definitely apprehensive to try it, but Kellex over at droid-life posted a tutorial that was pretty easy to follow. The extra screens, live wallpaper, and 2.1 apps are nice, but I do miss how smoothly my phone ran before. I’ll probably un-root when (if?) the official 2.1 gets released.

It's not really that difficult, or dangerous, to install these ROMs. They all go on pretty easily, and there's not a whole lot that can go wrong. The way these guys are turning these out, I'm installing a new one almost every other day.

2.0.5 is still a rooted ROM. Wen you open DMUpdater you will see an option to go back to stock. If you want.

Sorry. I forgot stock was 2.0.1. When I open the ROM menu in DM Updater the only two options are Stock 2.0.1 (no root) and DroidMod 1.0.

Yeah, you'll have to see if you can find 2.0.5 online, somewhere. I would recommend checking out one of the many other ROMs out there, especially Bugless Beast. You can find lots of them here, http://alldroid.org/forums/896-Droid.
Also, you'll notice in that forum, that there is a group working on porting the HTC Sense UI to the Droid. They are making progress, and it probably won't be long before they release something. I can't wait to try that out.

Nice. Thanks Spotmark. My wife has the Droid Eris and the Sense UI is pretty nice, especially for calls and messaging. She doesn't really use the multiple home screen option but I can see how that would be cool to have.

Rooted Droidmod 1.0 1GHz Overclocked

« Reply #8 on: March 09, 2010, 08:16:09 AM »

Hey Moto_oregon... I have the same problem when I overclock at 800MHz... I have been running it now at 600Mhz and have had no problems..The Sholesmod roms seem to respond better when overclocking.  A new release should be coming out soon as stated on their website.  When it comes out I will let you know if its better.

Thanks Tweedz. I thought I read somewhere that the DroidMod ROM automatically overclocks the CPU to run @ 800MHz though, even without setCPU?
