- As if AT&T users needed another excuse to escape the nightmare that is their 3G network, there is news today indicating that Verizon is very close to unveiling their own 4G LTE network. According to InternetNews, the LTE portion of the new Verizon  network expansion translates into “long-term evolution,” which clearly indicates that it will be a network always in the process of improving.

Previously, Sprint was thought to be the only mobile phone network offering 4G speeds, but now it looks as if Verizon is ready to take this idea and push it even further. As things stand now, existing 3G speeds top out at around 2MBps, while 4G starts at 100MBps and can hit 1GBps. As one might expect, this 4G speed will translate into a number of very happy Motorola Droid users in the months to come.

100 mbps! Thats amazing!! The only question i can think of is, would a phone need a whole new antenna system for the phone to use the 4G? Would the droid work on 4G right off the bat? It wouldnt make sense if it did.
