I keep reading reviews that say the Droid has haptic feedback for the on-screen keyboard, but the only things that prompt it on mine are the back/home/menu/search keys and the camera key.

Does the Droid have keyboard haptic feedback or not? I can't seem to find a different setting for it outside of the "turn haptic on", which doesn't help.

Thanks!

Turn Haptic Feedback ON and OFF

1.  Touch and Drag Up "Applications Tab"
2.  Select "Settings"
3.  Select "Sounds & Display"
4.  Select "Haptic Feedback" (Vibrate when pressing soft keys and on certain UI interactions)

That is exactly what I have done over and over, but I have no haptic feedback on the on screen keyboard. (I also have no sound, even if I check "audible selection" Do I have a defective phone?

How about telling me what you are doing and I'll give it a try on my Droid.  Also, just like your Desktop/Laptop - a "reboot" clears up a lot of problems.  You might consider pulling your Battery for a few minutes.

Sound & Display Settings > Haptic Feedback (checkmark to green)

I then have haptic on the back/menu/home/search keys and when I press the camera key. Touching the actual screen to open apps or typing does not provide haptic feedback.

Will pull the battery for a few minutes now, thanks for any help.

...Touching the actual screen to open apps or typing does not provide haptic feedback. ...

Unfortunately, not everything you do will provide feedback.  Selecting an Application (i.e., GMail, Maps, Market, etc.) will not provide feedback.   Jump into a Text Message - if you aren't getting feedback when you are using the virtual keyboard (not the physical one) - you do have a problem.

Again, not everything the Droid offers will provide feedback.

Sorry rottiebrows forgot to mention that I have followed the procedures below and have never heard the mysterious Audible Touch Tones.

1.  Touch and Drag Up "Applications Tab"
2.  Select "Settings"
3.  Select "Sounds & Display"
4.  Select "Audible Touch Tones" ON/OFF (Play tones when using dial pad)

I wasn't sure what did provide the vibration and what didn't since I  feel any of it. Just sent a text to my husband with Haptic on and using the landscape , it doesn't buzz at all. I've only had the LG Versa before (for two weeks, hated the thing) and I have an iPod Touch so I was used to what it felt like and it doesn't feel right without it to me.

I guess I'll head into the Verizon store and compare it with another phone after all this Black Friday crap is over with.

Thanks for the help.

ETA; in response to audible touch tones I may have meant audible selection, something I'd also like to have when typing (if the phone does offer this)

I believe the audible touch mentioned @ #4 is for the dial pad when making a call.
I had no clue of haptic before this post... mine does work, u may want to see a tech. Good luck

So I played with the demo phone at the VZW store, it did not have haptic feedback on the keyboard. The reps had no clue and then asked me questions on how to do certain things on the phone (pretty sad). I decided to return the Droid and get a Storm 2 for myself and a Tour for my husband.

Sadly, if the Droid had a better keyboard (both virtual and "real") I'd be more apt to keep it, but it has it's issues.

Rottiebrows,

Sorry to hear you have strayed from the Droid, but you should do what makes you happy. I guess "these are not the Droids you are looking for". lol
