Ok i opened the service menu by using ##program and then code 000000 and then went into test mode to change it to 1x only in the basement the evdo has one bar and hurts the battery. However when i got to the line that says what band i am on it shows US Cellular 800mhz??? When i go to status it says network verizon wireless and cdma rev. a and that i am not roaming and i checked the Us cellular site and they do not offer native coverage here only partner which to me means they do not have their own towers here. SO why would my phone pick up US cellular but say verizon?? It works so i am not really worried i just find it very strange and almost not possible lol. SO if any one could enlighten me i would appreciate it and also maybe others do the test as well to see what yours says?

I searched the net and found the following:

QUESTION:  Interestingly, when I had the phone in the program mode, I went into the test mode and discovered that my phone is running on the US Cellular 800 MHz band.

ANSWER:  Not surprising.  While there are exceptions, most of Verizon's network came from the original telco cellular system - which is 800 MHz.  The later guys are "PCS" (not "cell") and run in the 1900MHz band.

ok thank you very much. I also noticed that page as well as the stuts page with signal is only showing the 1X signal even when the bars show 3g. Which i think is weird because why wouldn't it show the status of whatever you are connected to?

The only way to know if you had the firmware coding to see what actually trigger's the 3g symbol.
