hmm it's true I think BUT have you noticed that it charges ridiculously fast? I hope you all got the package bundle for $30 bluetooth headphones, phone cover, & car charger.

My new Droid showed up yesterday from verizon. I activated it and charged it all night. I took it off the charger at 7:00 am. By 9:00 am the battery was dead. I was playing with it some but not too much, looking at the map app some of the time. Should this thing only have a 2 hour battery life span?

Definitely not normal ... Check out this battery test video:  Motorola Droid: Battery Life Test.

I've been getting about 12 hours or so on a charge.

I can go a whole day playing non-stop games and needing a charge only by night. I recommend you guys use the Power Control widget and disable all 5 choices. It substantially helps battery life.

Is that power control widget found in the android marketplace?

The widget is native on the Droid.  Just press and hold on your home screen and (assuming the screen is not full) then choose Widget and Power Control.  Unfortunately, disabling all of the options referenced does have consequences, including not receiving e-mail.  I have been selectively disabling those options and still get about 12 hrs per charge.

Ok i also think i have a bad battery. If i leave it a t standby it is ok but as soon as i get on the internet i can literally watch it going down in ten minutes. I get maybe 4 hours on a charge and i have now done two of "learning charge or w/e it is" I cam form the blackberry storm and with the e-mail always on and doing internet and pandora and it all, i always knew i could make threw the day. Also i will mention i had weather bug on to update a lot and so i uninstalled but am not seeing much improvement. I also NEVER use wi-fi or blue tooth and rarely gps so i do not know what to do because i love the phone but having to carry a charger everywhere is very annoying.

I've been getting great life out of the battery. I'm not a "power" user per se, but I do use my phone, and it's features quite a bit during the day, and my battery will still show about 25% left when I plug it in at night.

Disabling a lot of them like the GPS and the syncing is not a big deal and are enabled by default when you first get the droid. These programs then just enable when they're used and will go back to being disabled again if memory serves.

There aren't many more options to conserving power if I'm not mistaken other than turning off the automatic brightness and keeping it down, putting your screen time out to 15 seconds, etc. Things like that.

Sign out of Latitude.. I just realized mine is updating every like 30 min. Which is nuts.. No one that I know uses it anymore.. I'll have to see what battery life is like tomorrow..

How about anyone running AIM in the background? How is that?

Ah. I should have assumed though. I'd guess it wouldn't be TOO bad, but it wouldn't help you out either haha.
Good alternative using Meebo. I'm guessing that probably uses more power though, right? Convenience over conservation eh? :p
