I searched the net and found that you aren't the only one with battery cover problems...

  • Bad news is a number of Droids have battery cover problems.  The good news is (based on a thread I read) - you can get a replacement!   "...The phone number I called to order my replacement was 800-734-5870.  After the language selection screen, I hit 0 a couple times to get to an operator..."
  • Now, I found another thread (with pictures) that show's you how to fix the cover yourself.   Take a look at:  DROID:  Anyone else finding the battery cover falls off? - Nov 16th, 2009

Let us know how it goes.

We've already brought you one way to keep your Motorola Droid's battery cover from coming off so easily. That one involved a screwdriver and about 5 seconds of work.

Verizon's fix? Well ... Says Flickr user Anticitizen:

Took my phone to the Verizon store, and this is their solution.

It's better than what the original rep tried to do, which is put scotch tape on it.

IMO, for a $200 phone, this is unacceptable.

Yeah. That's more than a little weak.

That's actually horrible customer service, scotch tape or that grip thing. So much for interchangeable batteries for whoever does that.

Unfortunately (for Verizon) - I don't believe their really is a fix without replacing the entire Droid.  I'm sure, from a Business sense, it is cheaper to suck up bad press then replace a million Droid's.
